This alternate universe (AU) concept is based upon Uyu’s latest outfit. The idea of Uyu becoming a villainess was created by Uyu himself, and support for the concept came from Fantoms and other talents alike.

Can’t stop thinking about the story of phantom thief Uyu being reincarnated into a villainess ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️ (La+ Darkness, 5/10/25)
During Uyu’s Tuesday morning stream (5/13/25), he spent a great deal of time outlining his thoughts on this AU, including assigning each of the HOLOSTARS JP members a role in the story. Uyu continued his discussion with the EN talents during his Thursday morning stream (5/15/25).
While he outlined the general roles and worldbuilding of this AU, Uyu has given us his blessing to continue with the story as we see fit.
Uyu would love to see fanworks based around this AU! Please post in his art tag, #Uyu_Art.
I hope this helps more people to understand how genius this AU (and Uyu himself) is! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!
Background Information
This AU takes place in the world of an otome game, which “exists” in our world. Uyu, a phantom thief VTuber, has played this game and is knowledgeable of the majority of the plot and characters. VTuber Uyu has some sort of accident (potentially involving head trauma) and is reincarnated into the otome game as villainess Uyuphemia. Uyu retains his memories of the plot after being reincarnated, and is aware that he has entered a game world.
The other characters do not know that Uyu is inhabiting Uyuphemia’s body, and think that her personality has suddenly changed due to a sickness or head injury. They notice this shift one morning, when a maid brings Uyuphemia tea and promptly spills it. Under normal circumstances, there would have been a serious punishment for such a blunder, but Uyu simply asks if the maid is alright. The maid is shocked at Uyu’s concern, questioning if the person before her is really Uyuphemia.
Many of the characters attend a royal academy for the upper class. We do not know much about the academy, other than there is a focus on magical studies and many nobles from other kingdoms attend. Magic is heavily present in this universe (Uyu demands that if he is to be reincarnated into a story, he’d better have magical powers), and seems to be based on different elements. There is also a presence of a dark magic kingdom/force, though again, Uyu was fairly loose in his discussion of it.
There are several kingdoms that rule the land, each with their own royalty and power systems. These include the main kingdom that Uyuphemia resides in, a desert oasis kingdom, a kingdom to the islands in the far east, and a dwarf kingdom. Uyu also brought up a few kingdoms that have fallen into ruin/have been conquered by other forces.
Bad Ending #1: The first prince and heroine get engaged, and Uyuphemia joins the dark forces and gains immense dark power. Uyuphemia is convicted (and possibly executed).
Characters
Uyu – A phantom thief VTuber from our world who is reincarnated as a villainess in an otome game. Since he knows the original plot, he is trying to escape Uyuphemia’s fate (despite the temptation to live a life of luxury and let things play out as they will). He has an affinity for dark magic. Uyu is the first person to go out of their way to befriend Miyabi at the royal academy.
Shien – A butler employed by Uyuphemia’s household. It is unclear whether or not he is the head butler, but based on his actions, it seems that this might be the case. For example, he is the one who tells the maid to bring Uyuphemia tea, and appears to preside over some of the other retainers and staff.
Rikka – The first prince of the kingdom, and Uyuphemia’s betrothed. He is tall, has a good build, and is quite handsome. He is also even-tempered and open-minded, being fairly pragmatic. He did not have the greatest impression of Uyuphemia prior to Uyu’s reincarnation. He attends the royal academy.
Miyabi – The “heroine” of the original otome game (according to Uyu, Miyabi is the only JP member who can take on this role–none of the others even come close). A commoner who is attending the royal academy on a scholarship basis, and possesses great light magic. Due to Miyabi’s lack of status, the other royals are often condescending towards Miyabi.
Temma – A chancellor’s son and captain of the royal knight guard. It seems he also attends the royal academy, but it is unclear.
Izuru – A commoner who was picked up by an evil guild at a young age and trained to be an assassin. He is tasked with killing Uyuphemia, but gets caught in the gardens, all beat up. Uyu takes pity on him and hires him as a retainer/bodyguard. He ends up becoming more of a neutral force, as he still speaks rudely to Uyuphemia, much to Shien’s disdain. (Uyu believes that Izuru’s short stature and dark hair fits this archetype perfectly, and is very excited by this role for him).
Aruran – A traveling merchant. He wanders the lands without any protection. Is very friendly and approachable, even coming across as a bit ditzy, but is actually incredibly powerful. He hails from a desert land and possesses wind magic, explaining his lack of guards–he simply does not need them (he can basically use Guile’s moves from SF6).
Astel – A mysterious man who at first appears to be working with the enemy, but is actually on the side of good. He is working tirelessly to save everyone–”I believe in the truth of this world.” (Uyu says that his role is similar to that in the survival au). It turns out that Astel has also been reincarnated into this world, albeit from a different universe than Uyu. As such, he does not know the story as an otome game, but as something else.
Roberu – A spy who appears to be an ally, but in truth is working for the forces of evil. He was not in the original game, so Uyu does not know much about him, including his true nature.
Oga – A demon(?)/member of the forces of evil that is saved by Uyuphemia. He becomes one of Uyu’s butlers.
Fuma – A beastman (maybe not, Uyu first declared him as such but then didn’t talk much about it afterwards) trying to restore his ruined kingdom. He is the baron/heir to a fallen noble house in a faraway land. The other nobles in the royal academy laugh when they hear his name, since his family has fallen into destitution. Fuma is actually quite skilled, and as such pays little mind to the comments made about him, choosing instead to laugh at the nobles from the shadows. He comes across as very friendly, and is one of Uyu’s close friends at the academy.
Rio – The second prince of the kingdom, born to a mistress and thus is Rikka’s half brother. Because he is inundated with magic, his physical condition is poor. He has a cat spirit attached to him that only certain people with an affinity for spirits can see. He may or may not be able to transform into a cat. He is a wonderful singer.
- Uyuphemia is invited by the queen to the castle. Inside one of the rooms, Rio is sitting on the windowsill singing and gazing outside. Uyuphemia hears him, noting how beautiful his voice is, and finds him to be very cute.
- Since Uyu knows his character from the original game, he goes out of his way to find a rare flower on top of a mountain that can be used as a cure for Rio’s illness. He retrieves this flower and gives it to Rio.
- Uyu’s comment on Rio: “He’s so versatile!“
Uyu offered 2 possibilities for Axel and Altare. Both are outlined here!
Altare – Royalty of a neighboring desert oasis kingdom. The oasis is renowned for being an everlasting wellspring, powered by a magic stone. Trouble arises when the water source suddenly dries up/is polluted by a demon’s corpse that is cursing the water. Altare is a transfer student to the royal academy.
Scenario 1 – The first prince of the kingdom. The king and one of his close military generals attended the academy together, the general swearing his son (Axel) to be the prince’s advisor or retainer in the future. As such, Altare and Axel have been best friends since childhood.
Scenario 2 – The first prince of the kingdom. Though Altare comes across as gentle and almost meek at first glance, he has a sadistic streak. He hides a dark aura behind his enticing friendly smile. Has a faction of supporters that want him to become king (Uyu: “Altare might be the stronger one!”).
Axel – (In scenario 2) The flirtatious and flighty second prince, always trying to win the hearts of women, but actually cares deeply for his kingdom. It does not appear so at first, but Axel is actually the superior prince for the future of the kingdom. There are two separate factions that are in favor of either prince, resulting in war breaking out. Uyuphemia gets involved with the princes because of this conflict.
Bettel – Working for the side of evil. (Uyu has a difficult time deciding what to do with him, and even toys with the idea of him being the headmaster of the academy at some point.) A mysterious man who enjoys playing with his enemies, Bettel is difficult to grasp. He comes across as an ally at first, but upon learning more about him, he shows his true intentions. Has a troubled connection/bond to Hakka, which leads him to employ Shinri to spy on Hakka.
Flayon – A missing prince to a small faraway kingdom. As a baby, Flayon was traveling in a carriage when his family was attacked. One of the retainers survived the attack, and fled with Flayon to safety, eventually reaching the dwarf kingdom. He was taken in by the dwarves, and raised separately from humans. His former kingdom has fallen to ruin. Though the dwarves specialize in woodworking skills, Flayon has a specialty for machinery and builds golems (akin to robots). He’s a genius that comes off as very flighty. As the dwarf kingdom is isolated, the dwarves want Flayon to try reintegrating into human society. While Flayon is content with his current situation, wishing to remain in the kingdom and work on his projects, they insist on sending him to the royal academy.
- Uyu can’t get a grasp on him at first, but can appreciate his golems and is reminded of robots from our world. Uyu mentions the robots to him, and Flayon’s eyes light up with excitement.
- Flayon falls in love with the heroine (Miyabi).
- “This is PERFECT! I just thought up 5 pages for Machina-kun from scratch!”
Hakka – Royalty from a small island nation to the far east. Reincarnated people in the past from Japan created this nation, so many cultural aspects are similar to our-world Japan. Is from a line of exorcists. Transfers to the royal academy. Shinri is his retainer who accompanies him to the academy. Has a troubled connection with Bettel.
- Uyu reads his official bio on the HOLOSTARS website, and gets to the part about his corrupted hand. His reaction: “Isn’t he just Miroku (from InuYasha)?! This is just the kazaana!”
Shinri – Hakka’s retainer. Is actually a spy for Bettel, and ends up betraying Hakka halfway through the story. “Why would you do this, Shinri?! I trusted you!” BUT he is then revealed to be a DOUBLE AGENT spying on Bettel for Hakka’s sake–he never truly betrayed Hakka after all. (“Shinri would never truly be a traitor.”)
- Uyu first imagines Shinri as a ridiculously strong wanderer like Kraft from Frieren who encounters Hakka on his journey. “There’s too many good possibilities for him, so it’s hard to decide!”
- Has a close brush with death at some point in the story protecting Hakka. “For the sake of his lord and his country…!”
Jurard – Half-dragon, half-human prince of a faraway kingdom.
- Chat tells Uyu about Jurard’s IRL family’s affluence, which Uyu is impressed by. “He’s an oil baron! A prince!”
Goldbullet – S-rank adventurer employed by the academy (by mistake?)
Ruze – S-rank adventurer employed by the academy (by mistake?)
- Uyu gave very little on Gibby and Ruze, so there’s a lot of room for interpretation.
Octavio – The eighth prince of another kingdom. Has a bunch of older siblings who are all vying for the throne. He isn’t terribly interested in ruling, however, and prefers to engage in his hobbies. He spends his time researching, singing, and doing photography. His status as the eighth prince means little to him or others around him. Tavi is annoyed by the factions of noble supporters surrounding his older siblings since he’s so far from the throne. He believes one of his siblings would be a much better ruler than he would be.
